I am an achievement hunter and I’ve just completed the full 100% on Steam over 3 playthroughs, the silent playthrough at the end was just busy work though. Is our first play through Alex’s first loop or are we the player just joining in for her 50th loop? I’ve read through what others have said in here and surprised not many people have gone back for a second playthrough! I’ve gotta say - the second play through was very rewarding for me, maybe more than the first even! I really enjoyed a few little surprises that pop up on your second play, plus I probably picked up more nuances that I didn’t really catch the first time either. I loved the way they mess around with time and predetermination and all that. The dialogue system was pretty neat and I was always happy with the options the game offered me. Really loved the quality of voice acting, particularly Alex. I really liked the supernatural tone - I found it a nice level of creepy and it didn’t feel like it over reached trying to be something more than it could deliver. I really liked Oxenfree! The first 30 mins are very slow, and I wonder how many players in the wider gaming community out there got bored and dropped this before the game really starts to shine. Hi, this is my first time doing Game of the Month here. Might just be on a tangent, but I think it's an interesting aspect of how a game can tell a story in a rather unique way. Maybe if you spent less time with Jonas, the Michael sections would have felt different, or not as important. I imagine that if you spent more time with Ren or Nona, the emphasis would be different and perhaps the sibling thing doesn't stand out as much. For instance - I spent a lot of time with Jonas, so the story felt like it was about bonding as new siblings, which enhanced the importance of working out everything with Michael. What's interesting for me while reading everyone's different outcomes, is that the game takes on a completely different tone if you make different choices, which is pretty cool. While I really enjoyed playing Oxenfree, I don't think I'd go back and do it again for different endings. I typically just stick with whatever ending I get - except on the very rare occasion when I really can't wait to play it through again and see the other options.
